Are you looking for general information about traveling by bus? Do you have questions about the route of your trip? Send us your questions and comments. We’re here to help!

An Important Note: Remember that CheckMyBus is a search engine, not a bus company, so it is not possible to book or buy tickets directly on our website.

What is the Address of the Bus Station/Stop?

With the search results from CheckMyBus, you can easily check the exact address of the station or stop. You can check this for both the origin as well as your destination. Each result displays information about the departure and arrival stations. In addition, you can check out which amenities the bus provider offers. If you’re not sure if you’ve entered the right information or want to double check, don’t worry! All bus companies show a summary your purchase before you pay. Naturally, the addresses of the stops also appear on the bus ticket.

What to Do if the Bus Leaves or Arrives Late?

Generally, bus companies do not respond to delays they’re not directly responsible for. This includes fortuitous events and delays due to legal or administrative requirements.
In case the cause of the delay is attributable, passengers must make a formal claim to demand the corresponding compensation for damages caused. Following this, the passenger must demonstrate the damage and/or economic repercussions by presenting all the invoices and pertinent receipts that prove this.

If there’s a breakdown during the trip, the bus company must find and pay for the alternative means necessary to take passengers to their final destination as quickly as possible. For any lodging or maintenance costs, the company must take care of this.

Some bus companies, such as Greyhound, offer a bus tracker that allow you to search for a bus based on its schedule number and date or arrival and departure cities.

How Much Time in Advance is Necessary to Take the Bus?

Naturally, there are several factors that affect the amount of time needed to arrive at the bus stop. For domestic trips, with the ticket already printed and without special luggage, it is usually enough to be roughly 10-15 minutes early. However, when it comes to international routes, it’s a good idea to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before the bus leaves.

Bus timetables

Do you travel with your bicycle, with a baby carriage or do you have special needs when travelling? Companies recommend arriving at least 30 minutes ahead of time to avoid possible unforeseen events, regardless of whether it is a national or international trip.

Our recommendation: it is always better to arrive relaxed and with time to spare than to arrive running or even miss the bus for arriving too late.

What Do I Do if I’ve Missed the Bus?

If you miss the bus for reasons beyond the control of the company, each company has its own regulations and the corresponding conditions of change and cancellation apply. In many cases, you can exchange your ticket for another date or time for an extra fee. However, many companies offer flexible ticket schemes that can help prepare for any potential travel changes. Jefferson Lines offers the option to purchase Refundable Tickets. These are valid for travel for up to a year after the purchase date. These tickets do not need to be updated when traveling via the same scheduled route for a different day. You can still use these tickets.

If you need to change your schedule, you can bring the tickets to the nearest bus stop for free. Greyhound offers a similar option with its Flexible Tickets which allow passengers to receive full refunds if they haven’t used their ticket. Likewise, if a passenger only uses half of their ticket, they’ll receive half the ticket price. They can then exchange the ticket to another date free of charge.

Can Unaccompanied Minors Travel by Bus?

In many cases, children aged 12 to 16 can travel unaccompanied on the bus. This is provided they fill out an Unaccompanied Child Form. Both Greyhound and Jefferson Lines use this form for underage passengers, which requires:

  • Passengers aged 12 to 16 must pay full fare. Child discounts typically only apply when travelling with a legal adult.
  • The trip should be direct, without any transfers, and can last for a maximum of eight hours (each direction) between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
  • Both the departing and destination stations should be full serviced facilities and not curbside stops. Furthermore, the station should be open when the child’s bus is scheduled to arrive.
  • The person meeting the unaccompanied child must have a positive ID as well. Otherwise, the child may be released to the custody of Child Protective Services or local authorities.
  • An additional fee of $15 ($30 for roundtrips) for each child traveling unaccompanied.
When traveling with megabus however, all children under 17 are required to be accompanied by an adult or someone at least 17 years of age.

      Dear Henry,

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be a direct bus connection available in our system at this time. This connection appears to only be available by car with an estimated fuel cost at around $15. We apologize for any inconvenience and are always working to expand our intercity bus content. We hope you find everything you’re looking for next time you search.

      Dear Antonia,

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, there won’t be any direct bus connections in our system available from London to Manchester until 1 July, since the primary operator which serves this route, National Express, will not begin running until then. Dear Donald,

Thank you for your message. When would you like to travel? Unfortunately, there isn’t a direct connection for this route via megabus. There is a direct connection between Seattle and Pittsburgh available via Greyhound starting from $221.00. Alternatively, you can travel from Pittsburgh, PA to Denver, CO then from Denver to Stanfield, OR and Stanfield to Seattle, WA. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch with us again.

    To whom it concerns.
I live in Newtownbalregan, Dundalk. I want to know why the Dundalk 174 town bus route doesn’t come out to the M1 junction 17, go around the roundabout and back into town. There should be a bus stop at Newtownbalregan to provide a service into Dundalk Town and back, to the elderly out in this area.
At present, if I need to avail of a bus into town, I would have to walk approximately 1km from my house in Newtownbalregan to the De La Salle secondary school entrance where the nearest bus route is.
I wish to know whom, in authority, I should contact to put this suggestion forward for consideration. I, and people of my age, will be needing a bus service into town from Newtownbalregan when I get to pensionable age, which won’t be too far into the future.
A bus service to Newtownbalregan would only add a further 5km onto the present route and I think it would not cost too much extra.
I hope that you will respect my query with a reply. I look forward to a response from you.
    Kindest regards,
    David Martin.
