An Important Note: Remember that CheckMyBus is a search engine, not a bus company, so it is not possible to book or buy tickets directly on our website.

What is the Address of the Bus Station/Stop?

With the search results from CheckMyBus, you can easily check the exact address of the station or stop. You can check this for both the origin as well as your destination. Each result displays information about the departure and arrival stations. In addition, you can check out which amenities the bus provider offers. If you’re not sure if you’ve entered the right information or want to double check, don’t worry! All bus companies show a summary your purchase before you pay. Naturally, the addresses of the stops also appear on the bus ticket.

What to Do if the Bus Leaves or Arrives Late?

Generally, bus companies do not respond to delays they’re not directly responsible for. This includes fortuitous events and delays due to legal or administrative requirements.
In case the cause of the delay is attributable, passengers must make a formal claim to demand the corresponding compensation for damages caused. Following this, the passenger must demonstrate the damage and/or economic repercussions by presenting all the invoices and pertinent receipts that prove this.

If there’s a breakdown during the trip, the bus company must find and pay for the alternative means necessary to take passengers to their final destination as quickly as possible. For any lodging or maintenance costs, the company must take care of this.

Some bus companies, such as Greyhound, offer a bus tracker that allow you to search for a bus based on its schedule number and date or arrival and departure cities.

How Much Time in Advance is Necessary to Take the Bus?

Naturally, there are several factors that affect the amount of time needed to arrive at the bus stop. For domestic trips, with the ticket already printed and without special luggage, it is usually enough to be roughly 10-15 minutes early. However, when it comes to international routes, it’s a good idea to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before the bus leaves.

Bus timetables

Do you travel with your bicycle, with a baby carriage or do you have special needs when travelling? Companies recommend arriving at least 30 minutes ahead of time to avoid possible unforeseen events, regardless of whether it is a national or international trip.

Our recommendation: it is always better to arrive relaxed and with time to spare than to arrive running or even miss the bus for arriving too late.

What Do I Do if I’ve Missed the Bus?

If you miss the bus for reasons beyond the control of the company, each company has its own regulations and the corresponding conditions of change and cancellation apply. In many cases, you can exchange your ticket for another date or time for an extra fee. However, many companies offer flexible ticket schemes that can help prepare for any potential travel changes. Jefferson Lines offers the option to purchase Refundable Tickets. These are valid for travel for up to a year after the purchase date. These tickets do not need to be updated when traveling via the same scheduled route for a different day. You can still use these tickets.

If you need to change your schedule, you can bring the tickets to the nearest bus stop for free. Greyhound offers a similar option with its Flexible Tickets which allow passengers to receive full refunds if they haven’t used their ticket. Likewise, if a passenger only uses half of their ticket, they’ll receive half the ticket price. They can then exchange the ticket to another date free of charge.

Can Unaccompanied Minors Travel by Bus?

In many cases, children aged 12 to 16 can travel unaccompanied on the bus. This is provided they fill out an Unaccompanied Child Form. Both Greyhound and Jefferson Lines use this form for underage passengers, which requires:

  • Passengers aged 12 to 16 must pay full fare. Child discounts typically only apply when travelling with a legal adult.
  • The trip should be direct, without any transfers, and can last for a maximum of eight hours (each direction) between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
  • Both the departing and destination stations should be full serviced facilities and not curbside stops. Furthermore, the station should be open when the child’s bus is scheduled to arrive.
  • The person meeting the unaccompanied child must have a positive ID as well. Otherwise, the child may be released to the custody of Child Protective Services or local authorities.
  • An additional fee of $15 ($30 for roundtrips) for each child traveling unaccompanied.
When traveling with megabus however, all children under 17 are required to be accompanied by an adult or someone at least 17 years of age.

      Dear Jorge,

Thank you for your message. Different bus companies have different policies regarding minors being able to travel on their own. For example, on Greyhound buses, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by someone who is 17 years of age or older. However on megabus, anyone under the age of 17 will need to be accompanied by someone who is 17 or older. It’s best to check with the individual provider you plan to book your trip with to check their policies. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.

I’m going to Cambodia in March and want to take the bus from Siem Reap to Poipet and then Poipet to Pattaya. When i get off in Poipet how far is the border crossing and can i walk there or do i need to be driven? Also where abouts is the bus station on the Thai side to take me to Pattaya?

      CheckMyBus-Support

      Dear Greg,

The Poipet border crossing is roughly a 23 minute walk or 9 minute drive from the K.S.O. Bus Station. You can actually travel directly from the K.S.O. Bus Station to Pattaya in Thailand, however. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch again.

      Hello Daniele,

To search for routes, all you need to do is enter which city you would like to depart from and which city you would like to travel to in our intercity search engine, and then select which date you would like to travel on. Once you’ve done this, all available buses that travel along that route wil be shown as well as departure and arrival times and prices. If no buses travel to that specific route, the next nearest routes will be shown as a possible alternative. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch again.

      Dear Sharon,

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to predict whether or not a bus will be late, but unless there are extenuating circumstances, buses will typically make an effort to be on time. As an intercity bus search engine, CheckMyBus has no control over the bus schedules for the different providers. If you suspect that there may be a delay, we suggest trying to contact the provider directly. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch again.

On the greyhound bus from springfield ma to New york city at 2:15 p.m.. What are the layovers?
Does it go to Port authority before finally stopping at Church and Chambers street in lower manhattan?

      CheckMyBus-Support

      Dear Barry,

Based on the results from our search engine, there are two Greyhound buses departing from Springfield, MA to NYC today: the first one is a regular line departing at 1:15 PM, with stops in Hartford, CT, New Britain, CT, New Haven, CT, and Bridgeport, CT, and the other one is an express line, departing at 3:15 PM, stopping only in Hartford, CT, before reaching downtown NYC, so it appears that none of these lines stop at Port Authority. Also, we would advise you to double-check your departure time and bus provider, to make sure you reach your departure point on time and have a safe and comfortable trip.

      Dear Mariya,

If there’s no delay of the flight, it shouldn’t be an issue, since the bus station is directly at the airport.

However, it’s normally recommended to arrive at the station at least one hour before the departure time, as if you miss the bus, you’ll need to book a new ticket for the next ride.

We need to arrive at the Cruise Terminal at Port Canaveral no later than 1pm on April 7th, travelling from Orlando Airport area. Is it possible to do this on April 7th or must we travel a day earlier ?

      CheckMyBus-Support

      Dear Joe,

Regarding your inquiry between Orlando Airport and Port Canaveral on April 7th, 2018, unfortunately there’s only one route served by Greyhound bus between Kissimmee, FL and Titusville, FL at 10 am on that day, and you’ll arrive at 2:55 pm, so it’s recommended to travel one day before.
