Luxury Buses – A New Way of Travel

When you think of an intercity bus ride, most of the time it does not equate to traveling in luxury. However, a number of bus services around the country are providing a luxury bus experience on their intercity routes. Especially in areas where air and rail service is either rare or expensive. These bus rides provide a business class like experience with service onboard such as comfortable seats, extra legroom, complimentary drinks and meal. They are essentially dispelling the negative stereotype of an uncomfortable long-haul bus ride. Essentially, they are typically much more comfortable than a plane and at times even the Amtrak.

As for America’s 100-year-old bus carrier, Greyhound, if it wants to attract more ridership, especially for those craving for an upscale interstate ride, should consider some alternatives:
Create a sub-unit/brand (Think Toyota’s Lexus division) that specializes in luxurious bus fleet that go to certain routes or half of the routes Greyhound does.
Another one could be loaning some of these coaches for a pilot program in terms of evaluating rider culture and tastes.
I think any of these coaches would be those I would get in!
    Nice article.

I want to look at a map of routes. I haven’t been able to find one for ANY bus line except Greyhound. How hard is that? I want to look for routes that pass through or near Shreveport, LA. (Maybe I’d have to drive 5 hours to New Orleans?) Do any of your buses pass through Atlanta, GA?

      Hi Ngasha,

Thank you for your message. Please note that CheckMyBus is an intercity bus price comparison portal and doesn’t operate buses or sell tickets. When you click “view deal” on a bus route in our system, you are then redirected to the company’s webpage to make the booking and payment. The connection between Shreveport, LA and Atlanta, GA is primarily operated by Greyhound buses at this time. There are connections available via Greyhound. If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch with us again.
