megabus is celebrating its 10th anniversary of eco-friendly travel in the U.S. The bus operator, which now provides an eco-friendly travel alternative to over 50 million customers and connects more than 120 major cities and hubs, was launched during Earth Month on April 10, 2006.
Ever since Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970, the month of April has been nationally recognized as Earth Month and countless environmental activities now take place across the country. To celebrate this, megabus partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to offset its CO2 output and, at the same time, make your bus routes more environmentally-friendly and picturesque as it set out to plant 10,000 trees* along megabus routes and on college campuses over the upcoming year.
Sustainable Bus Traffic
megabus continues its environmental efforts as all double decker buses are now equipped with a GreenRoad system. Besides giving tips on road safety to bus drivers in real time, the smart system also allows drivers to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
When traveling by bus, you can also rest assured you’re doing your part to save the environment. According to a recent megabus study, most bus passengers travel solo, making bus travel the number one alternative to long-distance single occupancy car trips, a well-known environmental pet peeve.
Take action!
Booking your bus trip is a great first step but make sure you take action to help protect the environment. There are both nationwide and regional events taking place during the whole month of April to celebrate Earth Day.
